I’m devastated by Johann Zietsman’s decision to leave as the city of Mesa’s arts and culture director for a similar position in Calgary.
Zietsman brought people to Main Street in downtown Mesa by proposing and then guiding into existence MacFest.
He recognized that Mesa isn’t and probably will never be a high end arts city. So he opened downtown sidewalks to artists and craftsmen every Saturday from mid-October through April and gave everyday people a reason to come downtown.
He thought outside the box that is known as the Mesa Arts Center. What will Mesa do without him?
